The Specialized Dockets Section provides technical support to trial courts in analyzing the need for, planning of, and implementation and certification of specialized docket programs.

On Aug. 8, 2011, The Supreme Court of Ohio adopted Rule 36.02 of the Rules of Superintendence for the Courts of Ohio, which creates a minimum level of consistent, evidence-based practices for all specialized docket programs throughout the state. The new rule will take effect Jan. 1, 2013. To receive and maintain certification under the new rule, a court shall do both of the following every three years or whenever there is a change in the judge assigned:

  1. Adopt a local rule implementing and comply with the "Specialized Docket Standards," as set forth in Appendix I to this rule, and any procedures established by the Specialized Dockets Section of the Supreme Court pursuant to division (C) of this rule;
  2. Submit an application to the specialized docket section on a form prescribed and satisfactorily complete a site visit conducted by the Specialized Docket Section of the Supreme Court of Ohio.

The courts shown here are existing specialized docket programs the Court has recognized prior to the newly adopted rule. New and currently operating specialized docket courts will be required to apply for certification status prior to the Jan. 1, 2013, effective date of Superintendence Rule 36.02.
