Reinstatement to the Practice of Law
Follow these instructions if you have been suspended from the practice of law for failing to comply with Gov. Bar R. VI ("Registration of Attorneys").
Attorneys subject to a suspension order from a prior biennium will need to contact the Office of Attorney Services at attyreg@sc.ohio.gov or 614.387.9320, option 1, for instructions.
- Complete and sign the Application for Reinstatement.
- Complete and sign the certificate of registration. If you need to register for prior biennia, contact the Office of Attorney Services for the appropriate forms.
- Pay the applicable registration fee (see schedule below). Attorneys under an attorney registration suspension are not subject to the $50 late fee.
Registration Status: Fee
Active: $400
Inactive (not practicing law in Ohio): No Fee
Corporate Counsel: $400
Emeritus Pro Bono: $75
Military Spouse Attorney: $400 - Pay the $300 reinstatement fee by check or money order, made payable to “The Supreme Court of Ohio.” Cash or credit card payments are not accepted.
- All applicable registration fees, payable by check or money order, to "The Supreme Court of Ohio." Emeritus pro bono registration requires additional documentation. Please visit the Emeritus Pro Bono Registration page for more information. Cash or credit card are not accepted.
- Return the Application for Reinstatement, certificate of registration, reinstatement fee, and applicable registration fee to the following address. Be sure to keep a copy for your records. Incomplete applications will be returned to you unprocessed.

While you are under an attorney registration summary suspension, you may access the Supreme Court’s online attorney services portal, but you will not be permitted to register online.
