Ohio Supreme Court Justice Sharon L. Kennedy addressed members of the Cincinnati Citizens Police Association ("CCPA") as the group celebrated their 60th anniversary at their annual banquet held at the Queen City Club in Cincinnati on April 26, 2017. The CCPA exists to provide community support to the Cincinnati Police Department and other law enforcement agencies.

Kennedy thanked members of law enforcement in attendance for their service, and commended CCPA members for their commitment to honoring and supporting their local law enforcement "who protect and serve us, our families, and communities each and every day."

"While each of you—law enforcement officer or community leader—may have made your decision to serve or support independently, all of you have one core mission: to make this world a better place," Kennedy said.

She encouraged them with the words of Captain Gary Hoelzer of St Louis: "You may grow weary in the work, but never grow weary of the work."

Justice Kennedy is serving her second term on the Supreme Court of Ohio. Prior to joining the Supreme Court, she served on the Butler County Court of Common Pleas, Domestic Relations Division from 1999 to 2012. She served as the administrative judge there from 2005 until December 2012. Justice Kennedy began her career in the justice system as a police officer in Hamilton, Ohio. She received her law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
