Justice Kennedy Presides Over Swearing-In Ceremony

Ohio Supreme Court Justice Sharon L. Kennedy presided over the swearing-in ceremony for Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas Domestic Relations Judge Amy L. Searcy on Friday, August 1, 2014.

Judge Searcy was appointed by Governor Kasich in May 2014 and previously served as a Hamilton County public defender and a magistrate for the Hamilton County Municipal Court. She left her position as board of elections director to take the bench.

During Judge Searcy's investiture ceremony held at the Hamilton County Courthouse, Justice Kennedy was accompanied on the bench by Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Russell Mock and Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas Domestic Relations Administrative Judge Susan Laker Tolbert.

Justice Kennedy is serving her first term on the Supreme Court of Ohio. Prior to joining the Supreme Court, Justice Kennedy served on the Butler County Court of Common Pleas, Domestic Relations Division from 1999 to 2012. Justice Kennedy served as the administrative judge there from 2005 until December 2012. Justice Kennedy began her career in the justice system as a police officer in Hamilton, Ohio. She received her law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
