Justice Sharon L. Kennedy honored two Franklin teens for becoming Eagle Scouts. Justice Kennedy on April 28 gave remarks at Bishop Fenwick High School to honor Arlington Bell and Curtis Joseph.

"It is hard to know the exact moment inspiration catches in the heart and mind of a young person, but the love and support of family throughout the years have shaped the lives of the young men we honor here today," Justice Kennedy said.

Justice Kennedy told the teens that they join an impressive list of men who have accomplished much in their lifetime. She also remarked about how for more than 100 years the Boy Scouts of America has helped influence boys such as Bell and Joseph.

"Regardless of where your life leads or of your future aspirations, your accomplishment of earning the rank of Eagle Scout has prepared you to overcome any challenge and to succeed in anything else you desire," Justice Kennedy said.

Justice Kennedy is serving her first term on the Supreme Court of Ohio. Prior to joining the Supreme Court, Justice Kennedy served at the Butler County Court of Common Pleas, Domestic Relations Division since 1999. Justice Kennedy served as the administrative judge there from 2005 until December 2012. Justice Kennedy began her career in the justice system as a police officer in Hamilton, Ohio. She received her law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
