America 250

America is preparing for its 250th birthday on July 4, 2026.

The Court is celebrating the semiquincentennial with a year-long celebration called “The Story of America" highlighting significant historical events. Beyond digital content, the celebration will include events and displays at the Court. The initiative aims to spark curiosity, enhance civic literacy, and honor key moments in American and Ohio history.


The Story of America: This Day in History

On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall in New Orleans. | In 1876, inventor of the electric self-starter and long-time General Motors researcher Jonathan Kettering was born in Loudonville, Ohio. | In 1958, pop sensation Michael Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana.
